Cobalt and The Early Years...

Evan is the second person to take up the name Cobalt. His Father being the first. Evan's Father gained the ability of Super Speed through an experiment gone wrong, which connected him to the Speed Force. Evan's connection to the Speed Force is hereditary. He was conceived five years after his Father gained his abilities. This makes Evan a Meta-Human. His Father sacrificed his life to protect their home city. Because of this loss, Evan's Mother was against Evan following the same path. Hoping that their son did not have Abilities like his Father. When Evan turned 10, his Powers began manifesting. This frightened his Mother, leading her to make him swear that he would NEVER use his powers. This lasted for four years. Until an accident while on School field trip forced him to use his Speed to save nearby innocent people. It was this accident that lead to him becoming a Hero. That night, he told his Mother what had happened, to which he was scolded. And was told to not use his Powers ever again. Which obviously he did. After his Mother caught wind of this, she revealed what happened to his Father, and gave him the Friction-Proof suit - that would let him use his speed properly without burning his clothes, that his Father used. She had decided that she couldn't stop him from following his father's footsteps. So she reluctantly allowed him to do it. So Evan took his Father's Alias, Cobalt, and began the journey of being a Hero. During this time, Evan met a girl named Liza Bathory. The two quickly fell in love and soon began a relationship. The pair lasted for years until Liza mysteriously vanished without a word. This left Evan heartbroken, using his Speed, and spent an entire month searching for her. Barely sleeping. But he was eventually stopped by his Mother, telling him that it wasn't healthy for him to spend entire nights searching for her. After Evan's Uncle, Stan Ashford, the Chief of Denver's Police Department, found out about the "New Speedster Hero" in Denver, he was approached by Stan. Who tried to talk him out of it, but failed to do so. Eventually giving up, Stan told Evan that he'd do what he can to help Evan, so long as Evan helped the Police on specific Cases. Which Evan agreed to.After awhile, Evan came to the realization that he knew nothing about his powers. Where they came from, what powers it, and what he can do. So he made the decision to travel to Central City, and seek out his Idol, The Flash. With the intention to ask the Fastest Man Alive to teach him how to use his powers, as well as learn about them. It was at this point, Evan came to learn about the Speed Force, and where it came from. Needless to say, Evan's inner science Nerd was fascinated by it. Over time, Evan and Barry became close friends. The Latter eventually revealing his identity to him, and introducing him to the rest of the Flash Family, formally inducting him into the family.During an intense chase with the Speedster Zoran, to which Evan was losing, Evan was saved by the return of his father, Eugene Jackson, the original Cobalt. After Zoran retreated, the pair spoke. Eugene revealing to Evan that he was from The Flash from the 23rd Century, and had come to the past to escape a dangerous threat in the Future. That the threat he had been running from may have found him, and that he had to stay away in order to try and protect Evan and Elaine. Evan was angry, and rightfully so, but was more than happy to have his Father back. Evan agreed to not tell his mother about Eugene's return. Continuing to protect Denver as Cobalt, with pride. Knowing his Father was watching, proud of him. Months passed since the last sighting of Zoran. But Evan kept looking, with the help of Eugene. Eugene insisted that Evan focused more on his personal life, as his High School Graduation was quickly approaching, and leave looking for Zoran to his Father. Evan reluctantly agreed, spending the last few weeks with his friends before they graduated. But then Graduation Day came. After the Ceremony, Evan, and his friends celebrated separate from the others. Eating Pizza like the Dorks they were. It was a happy moment, one that even Evan found himself enjoying. As the duo were having their cliqued "Final Toasts" to one another, Zoran appeared. Abducting one of his friends, and ran off. Evan immediately gave chase. Chasing Zoran to the forests outside of Denver. The villainous Speedster mocking Evan, that he would never be fast enough to defeat him. His friend protested, telling Evan to not listen to him. That he was good enough. The Hero everyone needed him to be. And to prove a point, Zoran murdered them on the spot. Shredding their heart with a Vibrating hand. Watching his best friend die before him, Evan responded with Pure Rage. The Two Speedsters engaging in one final, high stakes battle. The battle soon ended with Evan, in his rage, killing Zoran to avenge his friend. Something that shocked him to his core. After, Evan ran off. Running so fast, with emotions so high, that Evan slipped through the time barrier, and went back one whole day. Naturally, he took it as a second chance, stopping Zoran from killing his friend, and stopping himself from killing Zoran. All seemed right and well, and Evan lived on as he believed he should have. But three days after, his friend would be mysteriously killed with their family in a car accident. Evan, with his new ability to travel through time, went back and saved them again. Then a week later, they were killed in another accident. Evan repeated this cycle over and over, constantly traveling backwards in time to save his friend and their family. After a few months, the very fabric of time and space began to crack, alerting Barry Allen and the Flash Family, whom quickly figured out what had been going on. Finding a frantic Evan, determined to defy fate, and time itself. From here, Barry had to impart Evan two of his most important lessons: You cannot save everyone, and because they can change the past, that doesn't mean they shouldn't.Evan, realizing that Barry was right, and that the universe itself was at risk due to his time travelling, went back one last time. Stopping himself from saving his friend on Graduation Day, and hopefully putting things back to where they should be. Unfortunately, Evan would soon find that time was not that simple. That in going back to undo his original change to the timeline, would not restore the original timeline. When he returned to the present, he rapidly found out what he had done. That in the new timeline, his Uncle had been killed. Believing it to be a punishment for his arrogance, Evan stepped down from being Cobalt. Feeling unworthy of calling himself a hero...

Velocity and The Promise...

Six Months passed since Evan was forced to undo his changes to the timeline. Evan, now in college, began to study Medical Science, Chemistry and Physics. Deciding that he wanted to become a Doctor like his Mother, or follow a path of Science, should being a Doctor not work out. The death of his friend and his uncle continued to haunt Evan, making him more cynical than he usually came off as. Distancing himself from the friends and family he had left. However, Evan would soon find himself roped back into the life of a hero, when his college was attacked by Metahumans. Forced to step in and help, Evan found himself reinvigorated by it all. Deciding that he would put the mask on, but he would no longer be Cobalt. He had a new code, a new promise... The promise that lead to the birth of VELOCITY.Months later, In Central City, a bizarre lightning storm would strike many people, granting them a connection to the Speed Force, though most were soon killed by Godspeed. One of these people, Jaelynn Grey was lucky enough to have left Central City right after being struck by the lightning, and came to Denver. Evan was quick to discover the new Speedster, and approach her. Offering to teach her how to properly utilize her new powers. Eventually, Jaelynn would become one of Evan's closest friends, and soon became CELERITY, Velocity's partner. Eventually, the two would form a team known as Denver's Defenders, alongside the Violet Lantern, Black Serpent, Moray and Requiem.Eventually, Evan would come into conflict with Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash. This would eventually result in Evan being stuck in the Time Stream, but after a few weeks he managed to return to his time. Later, Jaelynn was brutally murdered by Eobard Thawne, who would run the body over to Evan to taunt and (further) traumatize him. Though, for unknown reasons, Thawne soon went back to when he killed Jaelynn and stopped her death. Because Jaelynn's resurrection as seen as an alteration to the Timeline, The Flash, manipulated by Eobard's hypnotic voice ability, killed her in an attempt at correcting the timeline. Once again, she was brought back to life by Thawne, but with a twist - she now with a connection to the Speed Force's Negative Counterpart. Flash's actions would lead to Evan openly condemning Barry, and forever putting a wedge between Velocity, and his fellow Speedsters. The incident also putting a strain on Evan and Jaelynn's friendship, though the two soon worked through that and remained close friends, with Jaelynn ultimately stepping down as Celerity.During his time in college, his brilliance was recognized by one of his professors. The professor had an old friend who worked for S.T.A.R. Labs, Doctor Linda Ford, and put in a high recommendation for him when they were seeking out promising young scientists for an internship. Evan was thrilled, but the offer had a catch. He had to move to Central City for it. Naturally, given how rough his relationship with the Flash Family had gotten over the years, he was reluctant at first. But he refused to allow personal grievances get in the way of a great opportunity. Accepting the Internship, Evan moved to an apartment in Central City, but when his former protégé, Jaelynn, saw the state that her friend was living in, she decided to use her companies funds to buy him a apartment more worthy of him back in Denver.Bouncing between keeping an eye on Denver and Central City was stressful. Even with the assistance of the Artificial Intelligence created by his Father, and his fellow Defenders. However, after the discovery of the three new Forces, the Still Force, the Strength Force and the Sage Force, came with it new Heroes, such as Leia Lockwood, who would later become known as Genesis, and new threats such as Erin Masters, who called herself The Force Reaper. She had a unique ability to leech off of the connection of other Force conduits, and gain her own connection to that conduits respective Force. She was a challenging foe for Evan, even in their first encounter. She already had access to the Still Force through siphoning the connection from an unknown user, and the Sage Force from Leia. Using one of the more destructive abilities of the Speed Force, a full powered discharge, he was able to defeat The Reaper. In the process, he agreed to teach Leia what he could about her powers, and even how to be a "hero". Even creating a new "Bunker" in Central City, known as Jupiter Base, to act as a base of operations for Evan and Leia. Evan visited Erin in her Iron Heights prison cell, as Evan, not Velocity, many times to try and understand her and help her. He felt that they weren't so different. After Eobard kidnapped a pregnant Jaelynn and took her to the 25th Century, Evan and friends were devising a plan to rescue Jaelynn from the Reverse Flash, even going so far as to team up with his sworn nemesis The Force Reaper. However, they were unable to find Jaelynn in time, and she returned with her newborn daughter. Angry, and traumatized after being tortured by Thawne. This led to a falling out between Evan and Jaelynn. Obviously, this hit him incredibly hard. He failed his closest friend once again. He was a failure as a person, a friend and a hero. Shortly after, without a word or any goodbyes, Evan disappeared. Deciding to isolate himself on the most remote island on Earth, Tristan da Cunha. He built himself a small cabin on the island, and remained there for months. Unaware to what was happening in the outside world, or even his friends. Evan's absence had apparently caused a domino effect in his friends' lives. Evan himself thinks it was just a coincidence. Leia had attempted to use Jupiter Bases A.I, D.E.C.A. to locate him, but Evan had installed a fail safe. Instead of revealing his true location, the A.I. would locate him in a place known as the Tilted Towers. The location is fictional, so naturally it pissed Leia off. As intended. During his time on the island, he was visited by Erin, who had now gained the ability to access the third Force, The Strength Force. All she needed was the Speed Force. Her obsession with Velocity had made her decide that it would be his connection she'd siphon off of. She was shocked to learn that Evan and Velocity were one and the same. Instead of fighting her, however, Evan and Erin would simply talk. Talk about her history, her motivations - and what she would do when she gained the power of the four Forces, and unlocked the power of the Forever Force. The encounter ended with Evan returning to his Solitude, and Erin leaving. After four months, Evan felt it was time to return. Much had changed in the time he was gone. People had changed. Leia had moved to California, Jaelynn was successfully running her families business after the murder of her parents. S.T.A.R. Labs was thriving when it came to work. Weeks after he returned, after he had finally adjusted back to his life. Erin returned in a new, glowing form. Boasting the power of the Forever Force. Despite Evan's warnings, she used its power. But she came to him for help with it. She couldn't control it. He tried to help as much as he could. The two seemingly became attached to one another, and spent one night together. When Evan awoke, Erin was gone without a trace. He tried to look for her, but came up with nothing. But something had changed in his life without his knowledge. His history had changed. Instead of his Father being the Supervillain Zoran like in the original timeline, he was simply a absentee father. Another man had become Zoran and tormented Evan in his younger days. Another had murdered his High School best friend. He has yet to discover that his history had been changed. However, the change in Evan's own timeline began to complicate things for the 23rd Century. A Velocity Superfan and Speedster of the 23rd Century, Alder Hale, had noticed the destabilization of the timeline as a result to Erin's carefree alterations, and saw only one way to fix it. Alder Hale had to become the new Zoran. Going back in time to take the originals place, minus the death. Though he made it appear as if Evan had killed him.His internship with S.T.A.R. Labs had concluded, and finally having his Doctorate, he decided that he was going to leave and return to Denver. He couldn't bare to live in the city that housed a false hero. When he went to inform the higher ups at S.T.A.R. of his departure, they came up with a counter offer. They were planning to open a new Lab in Denver, and were in fact planning to ask him to move there to help kick it off the ground, since he was familiar with the city. It was a lot to ask such a young man. Evan saw it as S.T.A.R. recognizing his talents. He accepted this offer, and moved back home. Finally, after two and a half years of being gone, Velocity was home.During the beginning of the events of Perpetua and The Batman Who Laughs' Invasion of the Multiverse, instead of running into the Speed Force with the other Speedsters at the first sign of trouble, Velocity stayed in Denver. Defending his home from the threats at hand. However, when Perpetua took over the Multiverse, and gifted the Earth to the Batman Who Laughs, the world changed. Instead of surrendering like the majority of the Heroes, Evan stood his ground and fought against the Batmen of the Dark Multiverse, and eventually perished in the attempt when the world changed to suit the Batmen's twisted needs. After the events, when the Multiverse was restored at the end of the Crisis, Velocity was one of the fallen Heroes who was returned to life with full memory of what had happened. With a new lease on life, Evan continued his work at S.T.A.R. Labs and as Velocity in Denver. His death during the Death Metal Crisis haunted him, but he tried to move on as if nothing happened. He was given the ending that he wanted, and it was taken from it. Naturally, he wasn't sure where to go from there. One day, while visiting Central City, he intercepted a bank robbery from a new villain known as Entropy, a new Still Force avatar. The two briefly fought, and the altercation ended with Velocity being trapped in Stasis while Entropy fled. Unable to track her down, Evan decided that she would be The Flash's problem, and went back to Denver. Later, at S.T.A.R. Labs, he ran into a green haired woman, who the newest staff member. Layla Parkwood. The two quickly hit it off, and became close over time. During the time, Evan would continuously run into Entropy in Denver. Joking that she was stalking him. Out of the blue, Layla asked Evan out to a carnival with her. The two spent the entire day together, but Evan noticed that she was acting weird, but opted to just try and enjoy the time together. By the end of the day, Layla revealed that this would be the last time they'd meet as friends. Layla kissed him, then locked Evan in stasis, and revealing her identity as Entropy, and leaving. A day later, a large machine appeared in the middle of Denver. Evan racing towards it, only to be met by Entropy, wearing a strange, large helmet. Armed with not only the Still Force, but the other three Forces as well. The two fought, Evan confused as to why she was doing all of this. But she didn't answer. What did answer, was Tel-Ex. An artificial intelligence created by Leia. Tel-Ex revealing that Layla was a clone, created with the DNA of Erin Masters and Leia Lockwood. All people Evan knew, in an effort to create the ultimate force conduit to control. Unfortunately, the cloning tech Tel-Ex used was imperfect. Layla's body wasn't able to handle the power of one of the Forces, let alone all Four. So Tel-Ex decided to use her to tap into it, and use the machine to access them fully. Destroying Denver in the process. They fought, Evan eventually overcoming Tel-Ex and Layla, Freeing Layla from Tel-Ex's control, and using DECA to overpower and stop Tel-Ex. But another problem arose. The machine had been set to blow. If it exploded, it would have wiped out all of Denver. Evan had no other option, but to run around it as fast as he possibly could. Maybe even faster than he could physically handle. Using the kinetic force of his running to contain the blast as much as he could. DECA informing him that this would more than likely destroy him. Evan, knowing this, accepted this, and began to run. However, using the Sage Force, Layla would force him to stop. Evan unable to move, the clone instead took his place. Using the power of the four Forces to limit the explosion to only a section of Denver, while protecting Evan from the explosion. Evan survived, though he does not quite understand how he did. He wishes he didn't, as he believed Layla should've gotten the chance to live. After this, Evan found that he was able to connect to the Still Force as a result of the explosion, and the cosmic energies he had been soaked in.Later, during the Gemini Dilemma, Evan discovered that he could also access the Sage Force, frightening him as to just what was awaiting him. During an incident in one of his many multiverse adventures, Evan ended up on Earth-765 where he discovered he could also access the Strength Force. By then, he had already deduced that he could also access it, merely waiting for it to unlock. During this time, Evan assisted Earth-765's heroes in taking on that universes Brainiac. In a desperate attempt to save Earth-765, Evan attempted to harness the power of the Forever Force himself to destroy Brainiac. However, the power overwhelmed him, resulting in the complete destruction of Earth-765. An accident that broke Evan, as the guilt of destroying an entire world he was trying to save was too much to bare.Stepping down as Velocity, Evan returned to his distant ways. Eventually coming into contact with Alder Hale, who Evan was unaware was the new Zoran. Alder and Evan became close, but eventually Zoran attacked Evan and revealed his identity as his new friend Alder. After a fight, Evan pushed on why Alder was doing this, and after a long battle, Alder revealed the truth to Evan. That not only was Alder someone Evan inspired in the future, that now only was he forced to become his idols greatest nemesis to protect the timeline that Erin broke, but that he was Eugene's first son. Evan's half brother. Eventually, the two wore each other out, and Alder left.Alder would remain missing until an incident where evil multiversal counterparts of Leia Lockwood attacked Earth-0, forcing the two brothers, Leia, and a new Lantern to work together to defeat Leia's villainous counterparts. After, Evan and Alder made peace. Though Evan could not forgive what Alder had done as Zoran, he forgave him for having to do them because of Erin and his timeline alterations. The two having a more rivalry-like relationship from henceforth, Alder taking on the name BLITZ, and being an occasional partner to Velocity. As of recently, after the accident that claimed the life of his mother, and losing his job at S.T.A.R. Labs, Evan is at his lowest. Finally admitting to himself that he needs help, Evan has now begun trying to heal from all the trauma in his life.

Powers And Abilities

SPEED FORCE CONDUIT
Those with access to the Speed Force can use a large number of abilities, usually revolving around speed. Powers vary throughout each Speed Force users.
Speed Force conduits have one main ability above all else. These characters immediately understand how to run at superhuman speeds and their bodies instinctively understand how to react at high-speed situations. Older speedsters have a reduced but maxed speed of 770mph which is just below sonic booms allowing them to react to situations without causing civilians undo stress. Speedsters in their prime can travel at much faster speeds such as the max level of recorded aided speed on Earth and even reach the speed of light with enough willpower. It is possible for conduits to travel much faster than the speed of light however such levels require an incredible amount of stress. Speedsters unaccustomed to their max level of speeds may detach themselves from the Speed Force or even become part of the Speed Force by accident. Speedsters commonly use their speed to manipulate and control airflow, as well as vibrate their bodies to intangibility and phase. By exceeding the speed of light speedsters can enter the speed force or travel throughout the time stream.Speedsters also possess superhuman physical characteristics, such as heightened stamina, agility, healing, senses, and sometimes strength, as well as increased mental capacity. The Speed Force also manifests a protective aura around speedsters that protect them from the harsh effects of moving at super speeds, greatly heightening their durability.Speed Force conduits bodies generate Speed Force energy that manifests itself as electricity. This Speed Force lightning varies in colour from yellow, red, blue, and white. The lightning's properties are either identical or very similar to common electricity, as it reacts magnetically to metals and can shock people on contact. Some speedsters can learn to manipulate their lightning to which they can project it and manipulate electromagnetism.Certain speedsters can use the Speed Force for more advanced applications such as time manipulation, energy construct creation, creating copies of themselves, or stealing/lending speed.Evan himself has a unique Speedster power known as Speed Sense. The Ability acts like an early warning system for danger. Causing a ringing sensation to run through his head. Evan himself is entirely unsure of what causes it, speculating that it's the Speed Force "talking" to him. But it's proven to be accurate and useful, regardless of how much it annoys him.STILL FORCE CONDUIT
After the Entropy incident, it was revealed that Evan had the ability to tap into and use the power of the Still Force. The abilities of the Still Force include:
Motion Negation: Using the Still Force, Evan can counter and negate the force of motion, baring the potential to induce and accelerate the force of entropy. Causing the target to slow down, or even cease motion entirely.Energy Negation and Absorption: Evan has the power to negate motion in any way feasible. He can halt physical objects such as people, bullets and cars and return them to their natural state if he wishes. He can also negate the power of Speed Force conduits seeing as their power source is based off of motion, as well drain the forces that push life forwards, effectively making him capable of draining a person's life until they're dead, while empowering him simultaneously.Construct Creation: Evan can manipulate the Green Coloured Energy of the Still Force, and shape them to form constructs. Such as chains, melee weapons, etc.SAGE FORCE CONDUIT
During the events of The Gemini Dilemma, it was revealed that Evan also had the ability to tap into and use the power of the Sage Force. The abilities of the Sage Force Include:
Telepathy: Evan's connection to the Sage Force gives him a strong telepathic mind. With his telepathy he is able to read a person's mind to learn about their past. He can also use his mind to project psionic attacks. He could also connect his mind to another, or even control minds.Illusion Casting: Evan can cast illusions in another person's mind. He can do so on multiple minds at once, as well.Enhanced Intelligence: Avatars of the Sage Force have their intelligence magnified to beyond genius level.Tactile Telekinesis/Telekinesis: The Sage Force grants its users telekinetic abilities of both average and tactile varieties.Teleportation: The Sage force allows its users to teleport across great distances if needed.STRENGTH FORCE CONDUIT
During the events on Earth-765, it was revealed that Evan also had the ability to tap into and use the power of the Strength Force. The abilities of the Strength Force Include:
Invulnerability: By altering the density of his bodies gravitomic inception, Evan can amplify or lesson his bodies durability. However, Evan cannot use his other powers, as he would need to lower his invulnerability to use them.Super Strength: By altering the density of his bodies gravitomic inception, Evan can amplify or lesson his physical strength to enormous levels.Geokinesis: By altering his bodies gravitomic inception, Evan can manipulate the ground around him for attacking or defending.Gravikinesis: Evan can manipulate the gravitomic inception of his own body, or those around them. Making them more dense, light, heavier, etc.FOREVER FORCE CONDUIT
After the incident on Earth-765 and it's destruction, and through the unlocking of the four Forces, Evan gained access to the Forever Force. However after the accidental destruction of Earth-765, Evan avoids using this power at all costs, even preventing himself from accessing it entirely via mental blocks. The abilities of the Forever Force include:
Complete Chronokinesis: The Forever Force enables its users to have complete control over time itself. Adjusting their own place in time, travelling through, altering, rewriting and even destroying entire timelines.Immunity To Temporal Alteration: The Forever Force completely protects Evan from being affected by changes in the timeline.Cosmic Awareness: Becoming a conduit of the Forever Force has made Evan a cosmic entity, granting him omniscience and cosmic awareness. He can see every possible outcome at all times.
